The forum aims to unlock Egypt’s energy potential

The country’s key downstream stakeholders and international technology companies are getting together in Cairo for the inaugural Egypt Downstream Summit & Exhibition to attract investment and highlight opportunities in Egypt

The World Refining Association in partnership with Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources have announced the inaugural Egypt Downstream Summit & Exhibition taking place at the Fairmont Heliopolis & Towers hotel in Cairo, next February.

Following Sherif Ismail Mohamed’s announcement last September that Egypt is going to invest $14.5 billion in their domestic refining and petrochemicals sector over the next five years, Egypt’s refining and petrochemical industries are at the forefront of the government’s plans to get their energy sector back on track.

With all of Egypt’s current refineries being upgraded and new petrochemicals plants in the pipeline, the investment opportunities are paramount.

It is against this backdrop that the inaugural Egypt Downstream Summit & Exhibition is being held to bring together key stakeholders including EGPC, Echem, Midor, ERC with international technology and service companies, to attract investment, highlight opportunities and provide the critical platform needed to support the Ministry’s quest of ‘unlocking Egypt’s energy potential."

The summits programme has been carefully crafted having consulted with an advisory board of 26 key downstream stakeholders at the Egypt Downstream Summit Advisory Board meeting held at the Fairmont Heliopolis & Towers hotel in Cairo. After spending three hours discussing Egypt’s refining and petrochemical industries it was clear to see that there is great optimism about the country’s downstream opportunities, yet there are also challenges that need to be overcome.

The morning plenary sessions will present strategic insights, important industry updates, project case studies and investment drivers, with technical refining and petrochemical streams taking centre stage in the afternoons. An international speaking faculty of renowned experts has been assembled to address these vital themes.

The summit’s programme will be accompanied by a major exhibition reflecting the widest interests of the Egyptian downstream industry. Major international and local technology and service companies will have the opportunity to showcase their products and services giving them unparalleled access to all of Egypt’s key decision makers at this prestigious event.

The Egypt Downstream Summit & Exhibition is set to be the flagship event for the Arab Republic’s downstream industry. Scheduled next February at the Fairmont Heliopolis and Towers hotel in Cairo, the show will provide a venue to meet industry needs and present valuable business and investment opportunities to companies that cater to the growing petrochemical, refinery and downstream sector.
